What if the choice of materials for the kitchen reveals the personality of those who choose them?
It can be the use of the material itself that can often become an expressive gesture of the person who chooses it and who imagines how one material or another can be treated.
On the other hand, the perspective of those who choose a material with a specific texture, be it rough, smooth, warm, cold, shiny, opaque or velvety, often reveals personality traits. The proneness to essentiality, the mania for hygiene, the nonconformist attitude, the constant desire for diversity, the need for certainties.
Materiality is an attitude that caresses the senses.
Not only the sense of touch, but also the sight. It is connected to the ability to read materials and interpret them, enhance their virtues and choose the most captivating and surprising processing and finishes to satisfy their functionality and aesthetics.
Each surface completely changes its personality and perception according to how it has been treated.
We can find examples of this in some of TM Italia’s projects. The complex three-dimensional processing in matt gold finish that evokes the soft vertical drapery of precious fabrics, or the doors in black fir with the visible knots that give a true flavour to the wood, or even the use of ecomalta for a strongly brutalist finish. Last but not least, the fine three-dimensional vertical craftsmanship of the RUA kitchen doors that highlight the underlying material.
Only materiality or above all savoir-faire?
